Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat joint problems.

It involves the use of an arthroscope, a small, tube-like instrument equipped with a camera and light, which is inserted into the joint through a small incision. This allows the surgeon to view the inside of the joint on a monitor and perform necessary treatments using specialized surgical instruments.

Arthroscopy is typically performed when a patient experiences joint pain, swelling, or stiffness that does not respond to non-surgical treatments. It is commonly used to diagnose and treat conditions such as torn cartilage (meniscus) in the knee, rotator cuff tears in the shoulder, ligament repairs, and removal of loose bone or cartilage fragments. It can also be used for biopsy and treatment of joint infections. The procedure is less invasive than traditional open surgery, resulting in shorter recovery times and less postoperative pain.
